Ferraro’s Ristorante invites guests to experience its next Taste & Learn on Saturday, July 20 at 5 p.m. with wines from owner Gino Ferraro’s home region of Calabria. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, monthly wine-tasting event that provides illuminating wine education along with a menu of imaginative, authentic Italian small plates created by Ferraro’s executive chef Mimmo Ferraro.

The July Taste & Learn event spotlights wines from Librandi. Nestled in the heart of Calabria, Librandi boasts a rich legacy that spans over six decades. Founded in the 1950s, the winery has grown from a small family operation into an internationally acclaimed producer of fine wines. With a commitment to preserving the unique viticultural heritage of Calabria, Librandi has revived ancient indigenous grape varieties such as Gaglioppo and Magliocco, blending tradition with modern winemaking techniques. The winery’s dedication to quality and innovation has earned it numerous accolades and a reputation for producing wines that authentically reflect the terroir of the region.

Taste & Learn attendees will begin the experience with the Critone, a well-balanced blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc with notes of tropical fruit, citrus and herbs. Second on the menu is the Duca San Felice, a robust red wine rich with hints of red berries, cherry and plum intertwined with hints of spice and earthy undertones. Next is the Megonio, a full-bodied red wine revealing complex aromas of black cherry, dried figs and dark chocolate. Lastly, guests will conclude the tasting with Gravello, a prestigious blend of Gaglioppo and Cabernet Sauvignon featuring enticing notes of dark fruit alongside nuances of cocoa and toasted oak.

“Librandi’s wines are a testament to Calabria’s rich viticultural heritage and innovation,” said Mimmo Ferraro, executive chef, Ferraro’s. “For this Taste & Learn event, we’ve crafted a menu that not only highlights these exceptional wines but also celebrates the diverse flavors and traditions of my family’s roots in Southern Italy.”
