Our next Taste & Learn will be held on Saturday, August 26th, from 6-8 p.m. We will feature the wines of Oddero & Giordano. Two of our selections for this night will have you ready to fall in love with one of the finest wineries located in Barolo. La Morra, Piedmont, Italy “Poderi e Cantine Oddero” (Oddero Estate and Winery) is a historic name among Barolo producers. Run for generations by men, it is now in the hands of Mariacristina and Mariavittoria, the daughters of Giacomo Oddero, Barolo patriarch and a man whose fame reaches beyond the Langhe. The company dedicates its full attention to the winemaking process, blending ancient wisdom and modern production techniques with patience and tenacity: from the pruning of the vines to the pressing of the grapes, up to the aging of selected vintages. Oddero vines grow in some of the best and sunniest sites (known as sôri) on the hills in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones and beyond.
Luigi Giordano will be our featured Barbaresco for the evening. A fourth-generation winery whose vineyards are planted in some of Barbaresco’s most prestigious crus, including Asili and Montestefano. One particular Barbaresco bottling from the cru of Cavanna showcases the winery’s elegant, hands-off style of winemaking and currently represents the only single-vineyard cru of its kind on the market.
Here is the complete menu of wine pairings and small plates for the night:
Pinot Grigio, Italo Cescon. 2016
Ricotta e Piselli
Homemade ricotta cheese, snow peas chiffonade salad, rosemary lard and mint dressing
