Summer Wine Tasting Featuring Grimaldi Winery

Ciao, i miei amici. Good day, my dear friends…

I hope you’re all having a splendid summer. Have you have had a chance to come to Ferraro’s to try our special Summer Regional Menus? There’s still time—we’re offering new, four-course prix fixe menus every two weeks to showcase many of Italy’s diverse culinary traditions.

In the meantime, I’m delighted to tell you about our August Taste & Learn, which features exceptional wines from Piedmont’s Grimaldi winery. Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 24, at 6 p.m. and join us for another memorable and educational epicurean experience!

A bit about Grimaldi—the vineyards are located in Alba, in the province of Cuneo, and have been in use for more than a century. Grandfather Giuseppe Grimaldi originally cultivated the region’s superb dolcetto grapes between fields of wheat. He would then load them into a cart and take them to the Aldolcetto market to be purchased by winemakers. After the war years, his son Carlo began to bottle wine under the family name. By the early 1950s, Carlo had cultivated the noble Nebbiolo grape and begun bottling the first vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco.

On our tasting menu for this event, we will sample one of Grimaldi’s exceptional Barolos, as well as a Barbera—also made using the Nebbiolo grape. Before that, we’ll introduce you to the region’s typical Dolcetto grape as well as the refreshing Arneis white wine.

Chef Francesco DiCaudo’s inventive menu for the evening follows:

Arneis, Marco Porello, Camestri, 2018
Tonno Marinato
Tuna carpaccio, lard, citrus

Dolcetto D’Alba, Bruna Grimaldi, 2016

Coniglio
Poached rabbit, cherry and pistachio texture

Barbera, Bruna Grimaldi, Scassa 2016
Agnolotti al Brasato
Short rib ravioli, lamb lettuce

Barolo, Bruna Grimaldi, Bricco Ambrosio, 2015
Capretto al Forno
Roasted baby goat, Castelmagno cheese, seasonal vegetables

If you’ve not attended Taste & Learn before or if you’re a regular who never misses a  month, here are a few tips to ensure you enjoy the best experience possible:

  • Taste & Learn is an educational presentation as well as an excellent food and wine experience. We want everyone to enjoy everything about the evening, so please be courteous and attentive while our presenters are speaking.
  • Both the wine merchant and our Chef will say a few words at each course. Please refrain from tasting the wine or the dish until they have each spoken.
  • Due to the ongoing popularity of our events, we have implemented assigned seating to ensure all parties attending together may sit together.

As always, our Taste & Learn dinners sell out quickly. At only $75 per person (tax & gratuity included) this is an incredible deal, so make your reservations promptly! Reserve your space today by calling (702) 364-5300 or clicking here to make your reservations today! We look forward to seeing you soon…

Salute!
