Ferraro’s Ristorante invites guests to experience its next Taste & Learn on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. with wines from Argiolas. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, monthly wine-tasting event that provides illuminating wine education along with a menu of imaginative, authentic Italian small plates created by Ferraro’s executive chef Mimmo Ferraro.
Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Sardinia, Argiolas is a pioneering family-owned winery that helped bring international recognition to the island’s distinctive wines. Now guided by the second and third generations, the estate is deeply rooted in Sardinian tradition, championing native grape varieties such as Cannonau, Monica and Vermentino while elevating them through thoughtful innovation and meticulous vineyard care. With a profound respect for the island’s rugged terroir and cultural heritage, Argiolas crafts wines that authentically express Sardinia’s character and sense of place, earning acclaim well beyond Italy’s shores.
Taste & Learn attendees will begin with the Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna DOC, a crisp and aromatic white that opens with notes of white peach, citrus blossom and Mediterranean herbs. The tasting then moves to the Perdera Monica di Sardegna DOC, a smooth and approachable red offering ripe red cherry and wild berry flavors accented by subtle spice and a soft, rounded mouthfeel. Next is the Costera Cannonau di Sardegna DOC, a warm and expressive wine layered with dark berries, hints of dried herbs and black pepper. The experience culminates with the Turriga IGT Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi, Argiolas’ flagship blend, delivering remarkable depth and complexity with concentrated notes of black cherry, plum, leather and sweet spice.
“Sardinian wines have a distinctive personality, and Argiolas exemplifies that beautifully,” said Mimmo. “For this Taste & Learn, we focused on pairings that highlight balance, texture and tradition, creating an experience that feels both enlightening and indulgent.”
