Ferraro’s Ristorante invites guests to experience its next Taste & Learn on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. with wines from Tommasi. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, monthly wine-tasting event that provides illuminating wine education, along with a menu of imaginative, authentic Italian small plates created by Ferraro’s executive chef Mimmo Ferraro.
The Tommasi family has been producing wine in Italy since 1902, when founder Giacomo Tommasi acquired a small plot in the heart of the Valpolicella wine region. Now in its fourth generation of family ownership, Tommasi Family Estates has grown into one of Italy’s leading wine producers, with vineyards across Tuscany, Lombardy, Montalcino and more. Guided by deep respect for the land, tradition and innovation, the Tommasi family oversees every aspect of production from vineyard to bottle.
Taste & Learn attendees will begin with the Lugana “Le Fornaci,” a crisp and elegant white wine from the shores of Lake Garda, offering delicate aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and almond. Next is the Valpolicella “Rafael” Classico Superiore, a vibrant red blend showcasing juicy red cherry, hints of herbs and spice and a smooth, medium-bodied profile. The tasting continues with the Valpolicella Ripasso, known for its rich texture and depth, unveiling notes of ripe plum, black cherry, cocoa and dried fig. Finally, guests will savor the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, the crown jewel of the lineup, delivering intense flavors of dried black fruit, tobacco and dark chocolate, wrapped in velvety tannins and a lingering, luxurious finish.
“The Tommasi family has been making wine for more than a hundred years, and you can really taste that experience in every glass,” said Mimmo Ferraro, executive chef, Ferraro’s. “For us, it’s about matching that level of care with dishes that are equally thoughtful and rooted in tradition.”
