Hello Everyone,

In the next few months, I will write a blog on Italian wines. I will provide an overview of the country’s 20 regions touring its grape varietals. I will not bore you with the IGT, DOC or DOCG and will try to simplify Italian wines to educate people that are really intimidated and petrified of Italian wines.

This will not be an easy chore! Since even most of the American Sommeliers are intimidated due to the non-coverage from the Court of Master Sommelier. Hope that will soon change due to the popularity of Italian wines in the last 20 years. In the last 5 years, Italian wines have been in great demand, not only from consumers but also from collectors, with wines like: Masseto, Sassicaia, Gaja, Soldera, Bruno Giacosa, La Spinetta, Bartolo Mascarello, Luciano Sandrone, Paolo Scavino, Vietti, Emidio Pepe, Aldo Conterno, Dal Forno Romano and finally possibly the #1 Wine in the World, Giacomo Conterno “Monfortino”. Monfortino is the most sought after wine today. I will discuss more Piemonte wines in the near future. So stay tuned till next time.

Grazie,

Gino Ferraro
